100mm Hargreaves Halifax Drain Cast Iron Puddle Flange

Halifax Drain from Hargreaves Foundry is a below ground socketless cast iron drainage system fully compliant with BS EN 877:1999 + A1:2006. Hargreaves is an iron foundry based in Halifax, with over 100 years of experience in manufacturing cast iron soil pipes and fittings. The diameter of the pipes range from 50mm to 300mm lined internally with a two part grey epoxy finish which provides improved performance when exposed to aggressive substances. The pipes in this system are coated with an average dry film thickness of 170 microns. Pipes with an exterior coating in grey and interior coating in yellow have average dry film thicknesses of 130 microns and 170 microns respectively. Fittings are also epoxy coated in grey. Halifax Drain coatings have been tested successfully for resistance to attack by salt spray, waste water, hot water cycling and solution of acid at PH2 and alkalis at PH12. Delivery in 5 days.

Benefits

• Halifax Drain pipes are strong and highly resistant to sheer loads and to distortion and less likely to be damaged by vigorous rodding

• Low risk of settlement damage. It should be noted however that where the products are to be placed in particularly aggressive soils (e.g. peat) where the PH value is less than 6, it is recommended that the pipe system be encased in polyethylene sleeves for additional protection.Pipework leaving buildings and manholes which may be subject to settlement should incorporate a minimum of two joints close to the point of exit at a maximum of 600mm apart. This will provide a short length of pipe to act as a “rocker pipe” and in areas where large settlement is expected more than one may be required

• They are 100% recyclable and use almost 100% scrap and recycled metal during manufacturing, plus its long life expectancy (in excess of 100 years) all makes them a sustainable option.

Installation and Maintenance

• Installation is a straightforward process retaining the advantages of traditional cast iron systems while significantly cutting installation costs thanks to modern jointing techniques using ductile iron couplings (i.e. HD4012). Push-fit couplings (i.e. HD4095) are also now available.
  A modern update of traditional cast iron waste systems. Halifax can be connected to a clay or earthenware socket using a traditional cement joint. Connect Halifax into a conventional soil or drain socket using a traditional caulked joint.

• Designed to minimise maintenance costs over their lifetime. Hargreaves suggest you should consider them ‘fit and forget’ systems.

• Compatible with various equivalent systems. Standard couplings allow connection to products of different materials, provided external diameters match. For instance, a plastic pipe with a 110mm outer diameter can be connected to the 100mm Halifax Drain pipe (HD4001) using a 100mm Halifax Drain Ductile Iron Coupling (HD4012) because the 'outer' diameters match.

• Note Puddle Flanges (i.e. HD4078) - In basement areas where pipes pass through external walls it may be necessary to install a puddle flange. For locations which are below the water table or in areas liable to flooding, puddle flanges will reduce the risk of water entering the building.
