How many brackets will I need?

We often get asked how many brackets will be needed per length of metal guttering. The answer depends on the metal guttering range that you have bought.

Galvanised Steel /Copper/ Zinc /Stainless Steel guttering ranges

  • Position Fascia Brackets at 915mm centres, using at least 3 brackets per gutter length.
  • Allow one more bracket per angle or outlet.
  • Downpipe clips are 2 per 3metre length – then add one additional one to the total for each drop.

Contemporary pressed or extruded Aluminium guttering ranges

SnapIT Half Round Moulded & SnapIt Express:

  • Position Fascia Brackets at 750mm centres, using at least 4 brackets per gutter length.
  • Allow one more bracket per angle or outlet.
  • Downpipe clips are 2 per 3metre length – then add one additional one to the total for each drop, to secure the final 1.5mtres.

Everything else:

  • Position Fascia Brackets at 915mm centres, using at least 3 brackets per gutter length.
  • Allow one more bracket per angle or outlet.
  • Downpipe clips are 2 per 3metre length – then add one additional one to the total for each drop, to secure the final 1.5mtres.

Cast Aluminium guttering ranges

  • Use at least 2 brackets per 1.83m gutter length.
  • Allow one more bracket per angle or outlet.
  • Heritage pipes come with cast ears, but the final pipe of the drop will need either an eared shoe to secure the bottom of the drop, or a downpipe clip if it’s going straight into a gulley.

  • Use at least 2 brackets per 1.83m gutter length.
  • Allow one more bracket per angle or outlet.
  • Heritage pipes come with cast ears, but the final pipe of the drop will need either an eared shoe to secure the bottom of the drop, or a downpipe clip if it’s going straight into a gulley.
