The Company Vision, Mission and Values

And how we created of them via consultation with all staff in 2022

You may know the story. It is the early 1960s and John F. Kennedy is set on beating the Soviets in the space race. His aspiration? To land a man on the moon before the decade is out. Lore has it that walking round NASA one day the young President came across a janitor mopping the floor. He asked, ‘Hey! What do you do here?’ Startled, the janitor replied, ‘Well, Mr President, I am helping to send a man to the moon.’

Everyone’s contribution matters.

We’re not just trying to sell gutters for some faceless shareholders – instead we know that:

  • we are doing our bit to improve the environment and save the planet by converting plastic gutter sales to metal gutters;
  • we are improving our installer customer’s business success by sharing our expert knowledge;
  • we are improving conservation and renovation projects by helping to get high quality heritage products installed on them;
  • we are helping housing associations make affordable housing more affordable by reducing the ongoing maintenance and repair costs;
  • And we are involved in some inspiring ‘Grand Design’ style custom builds

We’re certainly not just mopping the floor at Rainclear! We’re not just here for a job title, or to pay the rent/mortgage (which we could do anywhere else). This is why we stay and why others would be proud to join us.

If you were in charge of Rainclear, what would you change about the business on the first day?

  • Better supplier variety online to compete better.
  • Improve technology and equipment.
  • Value our staff in more ways than money.
  • Tighten the bond with new members – to feel part of the business.
  • Remember that all customers are not equal – so don’t change things based on one criticism.
  • Encourage staff to meet more. And share ideas more.

What would be your vision of a better future?

  • More collaboration on decision making.
  • Regular feedback on the business performance and goals.
  • Clear communication of the company’s strategy.
  • Ensure staff feel valued and motivated.
  • Support for the Directors to allow them to do more of the work they need to do.
  • A Business Development Manager.
  • Office Manager to help liaise with Admin, Finance and Directors and manage the day-to-day running.
  • Make the website easier to use – compete better with competitors.
  • More interesting team building exercises, including partners and family.
  • Another BBQ.
